Introductory Programs
Scuba diving is serious fun and we want you to enjoy it as much as we do. Sub Sea Experience's entry-level scuba and snorkeling programs are designed to get you, your family and friends into the water as quickly as possible, while at the same time, satisfying your individual training needs. These programs are available on the first evening of the Classroom and Pool Scuba Immersion Program. Please check the calendar and then contact us to enroll in your Introductory Program.
- SNORKEL DIVER $40 per person +GST - includes all snorkel equipment rental

- Sub Sea Experience's Snorkel Diver program is full of tips and advice to help make snorkeling easier and more fun. It is a great way to improve your confidence in the water and it is perfect for anyone planning a warm-water getaway. Fun for the whole family.
- In the academic session, you will be introduced to snorkeling equipment including: the mask, fins, snorkel and boots.
- Double your pleasure by learning how to get into and out of the water, how to move in the water with ease and how to identify beautiful fish.
- Find out how to purchase, adjust and maintain snorkeling equipment.
- This program is a great way to improve your confidence in the water and it is perfect for people planning a warm water getaway. Fun for the whole family.

- Try Scuba is an orientation to diving that allows new adventurers to experience diving in a pool or open water, under the direct supervision of a dive leader, with a minimal amount of instruction and classroom time.
- The academic session focuses on the immediate needs of divers such as equipment adjustment, equalizing pressure, breathing, moving through the water and orientation.
- So you can start diving as soon as possible, you'll practice a reduced skill set with SSI's Comfort Through Repetition teaching method in a pool/confined water session.
- With the goal being to develop a working knowledge of scuba equipment, divers will receive an introduction to basic scuba equipment with an emphasis on equipment handling.
- Upon completing the Try Scuba program, divers can apply their experience and receive credit for their Try Scuba course when they enroll in the Open Water Diver Certification Program. (Some conditions apply)
Open Water Diver Certification Programs
Diving offers a lifetime of exciting adventure and the ideal way to begin that adventure is with SSI's Open Water Diver course. Under the guidance of a professional SSI Instructor, you will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to enjoy a lifetime of underwater exploration. Open Water Diver Certification has three components: Knowledge, Skills and Open Water Evaluation. Please check the calendar, review the Registration/Cancellation policy and then contact us to enroll in your Classroom and Pool Scuba Immersion Program and then upon successful completion, arrange for your Open Water Evaluation.
- CLASSROOM AND POOL SCUBA PROGRAM 2 for 1 $350 (+GST) SPECIAL OFFER
- There are certain safety rules that must be learned. With a professional teaching system (a manual, video, and study guide) you can study this information on your own and learn with a Sub Sea Experience Instructor who will be available for assistance during the Classroom sessions of your Scuba Immersion Program.
- In multiple pool sessions, you will practice scuba skills with SSI's exclusive Comfort Through
Repetition teaching method. Some of the skills you will learn include:
- Moving in the water with ease
- Breathing normally under water
- Controlling buoyancy so you neither descend nor ascend
- The easiest ways to enter and exit the water
- Getting water out of your mask or mask clearing
- Since you can't dive without equipment, there is extensive information on scuba equipment including:
- selecting the best diving equipment for your needs and budget
- maintaining and adjusting your equipment to extend its life and improve performance
- This weekend program includes rental of scuba unit, tanks and weights as well as 1 shared Open Water Manual and 1 training record, dive log, and workbook per program participant. Program participants need to provide or rent ($40 per person + GST) mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuit boots.
- OPEN WATER EVALUATION $179 per person (+GST)
- Demonstrate your competence and confidence in the Open Water in the beautiful alpine lakes of
Jasper or in the world-class dive sites of Victoria. Join Sub Sea Experience Instructors on a Camp 'N'
Dive Weekend in Jasper or a Sub Sea Dive Charter in Victoria every long-weekend. OR Complete your Open
Water Evaluation at a Tropical Dive-Vacation Destination on a
warm-water trip led by Sub Sea Experience Instructors.
- This weekend/long weekend/vacation program includes rental of cold water wetsuit (where applicable), scuba unit, tanks and weights. Program participants need to provide or rent ($40 per person + GST) mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuit boots for Jasper and Victoria. Program participants travelling to a tropical dive destination with Sub Sea Experience need to to provide or rent scuba unit, tanks and weights for the duration of the travel program. Transportation, accommodations, food, entertainment, dive charter boat fees (where applicable) and airfills are the student's responsibility during the Open Water Evaluation. Please ask your Sub Sea Experience Instructor about some economical alternatives.
- An alternative is to complete your Open Water Evaluation with a local dive operator at your dive
vacation destination during your planned warm water holiday. Sub Sea Experience Instructors provide a
Referral Letter to review the skills that you need to demonstrate for certification.
- Costs for Open Water Evaluation may vary starting at $175 USD and up, negotiated and payable to the Instructor at your dive-vaction destination. Sub Sea Experience Staff would be pleased to recommend local dive operators that we have previously dived with. Program participants travelling to a tropical dive destination need to to provide or rent mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit boots, and scuba unit for the duration of the Evaluation program. - Recapture that feeling of total confidence by updating the diving skills you learned in your Open Water Diver course.Your Scuba Skills Update Dive Leader will review the knowledge you learned in your Open Water Diver class as well as cover any new material. You will review dive planning, dive tables and dive execution. In the Scuba Skills Update you will have the opportunity to practice and review the scuba skills you learned in your open water diver class and learn techniques that that may have changed since you took your class. You will have the opportunity to refresh your memory and motor coordination and practice your self-aid skills, all with the guidance of a dive leader. The scuba skills update is a great opportunity to re-learn your current equipment, or the perfect time to learn about and adjust your new equipment with the guidance of a dive leader.

- Specialty activities introduce certified divers to a whole new world of diving opportunities. Learning is easy. You can purchase SSI Specialty manuals and videos from Sub Sea Experience. Then enroll in a specialty course, because it is recommended that you practice specialized scuba skills with an Sub Sea Experience SSI Advanced Instructor. Using the SSI education system you will learn the information about specific types of specialty diving that would take you years of diving to learn on your own. Under the guidance of an Sub Sea Experience SSI Instructor, you will learn the correct skills and techniques associated with the specialties of your choice to make you a more comfortable and confident diver. You will learn how to use an expanded range of equipment to help you make your dives more enjoyable and worthwhile.

DIVE LEADER PROGRAMS
Are you drowning in a sea of paper and landlocked reality? Then maybe it's time to become an SSI Instructor and work in an office that covers 3/4 of the world.
There is high demand for full and part-time SSI Instructors at retail shops and exotic resorts. Graduates of the SSI program are not just teachers; they know the industry, the business, how to sell dive trips and equipment, and how to produce confident, comfortable divers. Sub Sea Experience/Dive Rescue and Consulting is a Private Vocational Training Facility and two professional teachers with Permanent Alberta Teaching Certification ensure the highest educational standards for all Sub Sea Experience program participants. - DIVE CONTROL SPECIALIST TRAINING COURSE
- SSI Dive Control Specialist is SSI's initial dive leadership level and is considered by many as the "fun" leadership rating. That's because you can do more than any other entry-level dive leader. You can do more because you receive both dive master and assistant instructor training in the SSI Dive Control Specialist course. With other agencies, these courses are separate.
- You will study advanced physics, physiology and decompression theory. You'll practice advanced rescue techniques, fine-tune your diving skills and learn the basics of teaching. Plus, there's a high demand for SSI Dive Control Specialists at retail shops and exotic resorts.
- INSTRUCTOR TRAINING COURSE
- Most instructor programs focus only on teaching diving. However, most dive businesses require much more of instructors than merely teaching. The SSI Instructor Training Course (ITC) prepares you to become an active member of the scuba industry, a successful educator, and a valuable dive business employee.
Occupational Health & Safety First Aid
- Our Two day First Aid Course is $110.00 Includes Books and Certification Fees.
PABI (CCG) Coast Guard approved Boat Operators Course
- This 6 - 8 hour program is designed for you to obtain your Canada wide Boat Operators Card. Cost is $75.00 and includes your books, certification fee and card.
INTRODUCTORY, OPEN WATER AND ADVANCED CERTIFICATION SCUBA PROGRAM POLICY
Registration
- Select a program, telephone Sub Sea Experience at (780) 434-1433 and place a $100 deposit to secure your place in the class and receive your study materials.
- Balance is due immediately prior to commencement of the class.
- Scuba students are required to provide or rent ($40 per weekend) personal snorkel gear: mask, snorkel, fins and boots of "Open Water" quality.
- Study materials are provided upon receipt of deposit and students are expected to read through all materials prior to first class.
- All scuba programs must be completed within 6 months of course start date. Any delay past 6 months subject to additional completion costs
- Transportation, accommodations, food, entertainment and airfills are the student's responsibility during the Open Water Training weekend. But ask your Instructor about some economical alternatives
CANCELLATION
- 2 week cancellation - receive full deposit $100.00. 1 week cancellation - $50.00 in store credit. (1 week or less your deposit will be forfeited).
- A minimum of 8 students is required to proceed and classes with less may be rescheduled.
- Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule.
- Weekend courses start promptly at the dive shop training centre @ 5 pm on Friday evenings.
- Balance of weekend schedule may be subject to change without notice.
- Management reserves the right to cancel any class and refund the registration fee.

All scuba training agencies have formed the "Recreational Scuba Training Council" (RSTC). This allows all students to dive with any agency any where in the world at a minimum standard without hassle.
